3 Moments That Remind Us Why Trevor Noah Is Hosting the Grammy Awards for the Fourth Consecutive Time
Written by Glenn Peoples on February 3, 2024
Trevor Noah has become a major presence on the Grammy stage, charming audiences with his keen wit and innate skill for lively banter for the past three years. As he approaches his fourth consecutive hosting gig for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards®, which airs Sunday, February 4, 2024, on CBS, EBONY thought it was only befitting to look back at some of his best moments since he took on the role in 2021.
65th Annual Grammy Awards® (2023)
Noah achieved a feat that only a few brave souls, like LL Cool J, have dared to go: helming the Grammys for three consecutive years or more. For his third hosting showcase, Noah admitted to EBONY his somewhat selfish reason for returning as master of ceremonies. “I’m a fan of many of the artists” performing that night, he shared. And oh, what a night it was, as Beyoncé broke the record for the most Grammy wins of all time (32) with her win for Best Dance/Electronic Album for RENAISSANCE. To celebrate her success, Noah walked over a Grammy and served it up it to Queen B.
64th Annual Grammy Awards® (2022)
The 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony was a return to past years’ greatness inside a venue, and Noah was there for it all. He once again tapped into his signature comedic timing to have playful interactions with artists, including one with BTS. Noah joked that instead of a monetary check for hosting, he was being paid in time spent with the sensational Korean pop group.
63th Annual Grammy Awards® (2021)
Noah faced an unprecedented challenge with his first Grammy emcee experience, serving as host of a pandemic-modified ceremony. Of course, he rose to the occasion, balancing humor with sensitivity at the scaled-down event. That was evident in the opening ceremony, where the over-the-top glitz was pulled back, leaving Noah to take on the heavy lifting as master of ceremonies. With clever jokes about the coronavirus and braving L.A. smog, he did it to perfection and without live audience reactions.
