Big Wins and Memorable Moments at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards

Written by on February 5, 2024

From Tracy Chapman’s appearance to JAY-Z spitting truths, the 66th Grammy Awards was a night to remember. For the fourth consecutive time, master of ceremonies Trevor Noah set the tone for the night, during which diverse artists took home their coveted golden gramophones. Here’s a closer look at some of the most notable winners.

As the second-ever recipient of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter used the stage to call out the Grammys for snubbing his wife Beyoncé, who hails with the most Grammy wins of all time, for never winning Album of the Year. “Even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”

Tracy Chapman, who won the Best Pop Vocal Performance Grammy for “Fast Car” in 1989, performed the song with country star Luke Combs, marking her return to the live stage in years.

Capping off an incredible year, Victoria Monét won the Grammy for Best New Artist as well as Best R&B Album for Jaguar II. Coco Jones won Best R&B Performance for “ICU.” PJ Morton featuring Susan Carol won Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Good Morning.” The Best R&B Song went to Sza for “Snooze,” who also won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost in the Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers, and Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS.

The Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song went to Killer Mike Featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane for “Scientists & Engineers.” Alicia Keys took home the Best Immersive Audio Album for The Diary of Alicia Keys and Theron Thomas won Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical.
