Kiss Colors & Care and the Black In Fashion Council Show Support to Emerging Designers With Design Competition

Written by on February 23, 2024

KISS Colors & Care, an award-winning textured hair brand, has announced the Culture Collective limited edition Design Crown Challenge in partnership with the Black In Fashion Council. This competition aims to support emerging Black fashion designers by inviting them to create a bespoke design for a KISS Colors & Care Soft Satin Wrap Hair Scarf. The challenge marks the brand’s ongoing commitment to promoting Black entrepreneurship and follows the establishment of the KISS Colors & Care Foundation. The brand’s accessories collection, including Satin Edge Scarfs, Satin Hair Wraps, Pre-Tied Top Knots, Bonnets and Durags, provides the textured hair community with fashionable options to protect their hair.

The challenge provided designers with a platform to showcase their creativity and introduce their designs to a new audience. While KISS Colors & Care primarily focuses on hair and beauty, fashion is an integral part of its identity. This collaboration with the Black In Fashion Council aligns with the brand’s mission to support and empower the Black community. According to Annette DeVita-Goldstein, SVP of Global Marketing at KISS Colors & Care, the challenge will create an opportunity for emerging designers to diversify their brands into the beauty space.

Submissions for the challenge were reviewed by a panel of judges, including Celebrity Hairstylist Ursula Stephen and Laron Howard, Fear of God’s Director of Communications. The two winners chosen were are Samaria Leah and Jacques Agbobly and their scarf patterns will be available for purchase in Fall 2024. This initiative is part of an interactive social campaign to engage the textured hair community.
