Now, in collaboration with Lil Durk, STARRY is set to revolutionize basketball with the STARRY Fizz Fest, scheduled to visit four HBCUs this spring. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills in competition for a chance to win over $333,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Lil Durk is excited about the collaboration and its potential impact. “Just putting it together was a perfect match-up from basketball and my own inspiration I got over kids with music and HBCUs,” he shares with EBONY. “It’s the perfect match.”

Lil Durk shares the importance of his involvement with institutions like Norfolk State, Hampton, Jackson State and Morgan State, expressing his commitment to staying connected with them and showing his ongoing support. This recognition not only celebrates the rich legacy of HBCUs but also reinforces the bonds between artists like Lil Durk and these esteemed educational institutions, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity within the community.

Given Lil Durk’s passion for basketball, discussions often revolve around who the best player in the music industry might be. If he were to assemble a celebrity basketball game with a team of three, including himself, the question arises: who would he choose as the other two players? Lil Durk says, “Drake and J.Cole.”

When it comes to balance, Lil Durk has mastered it. He maintains involvement in the community while also working on a new album. Furthermore, he refuses to limit himself to one box, exploring possibilities in movies, commercials and endorsements. “For one, you have to want to do it to even balance it. A lot of work goes unnoticed, but we just kept going and kept in a face. So it works hand in hand with us. I get my motivation from everything we do.”
